What we collect
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are used and how people find the site, so we can improve it. Google provides this service to us; see Google's privacy policy.
- If you click "Accept analytics", Google Analytics sets cookies (named
_gaand_ga_…, which can last up to 2 years) so it can recognise repeat visits. - Before you choose, or if you click "Reject", no analytics cookies are set and nothing is stored on your device. The page still sends Google basic, cookieless measurement data (such as the page visited, browser and device type, and approximate location) so it can estimate overall visitor numbers. Google says Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.
- We never use advertising features: advertising storage and personalisation are always switched off.

- Searches. What you type into the recall check is used to show results. We do not link searches to you.
- Browser alerts (only if you turn them on). Your browser gives us an alert address and encryption keys, and we store them with the topics you chose (allergens, supermarkets, hazards or brands). We use them only to send recall alerts. The address points to your browser maker's notification service (for example Google, Mozilla or Apple), which delivers the alert but cannot read it. We do not know who you are. Turning alerts off deletes this record, and we also delete it automatically when your browser tells us the address no longer works.
- Server logs. Our hosting keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and page requested) to keep the site secure and working.
Cookies
We don't use advertising cookies. Google Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them, and we remember your choice in your browser's storage. You can change your mind at any time with (also at the bottom of every page). If you reject analytics after accepting, we remove the Google Analytics cookies.
If you turn on browser alerts, your topic choices are also saved in your own browser's storage so this site can show them next time; they never leave your device except as part of the alert sign-up.
